About me:

My parents bought this when I was doing research on Jewish subjects in Krakow about 10 years ago. It's made by sculptor Józef Reguła, who I know, and they bought it from the Jarden Jewish Bookshop. My family is Jewish, and my grandparents were from this part of the world. My dad says he just likes folk sculpture, but I think he also feels sentimental about traditional Jewishness, which he grew up with, but discarded later. I think he also likes the closeness of the family group. My parents kept it in their home on a shelf with other tschotschkes from their travels. More recently I keep it in my office on top of my file cabinet with other Polish Jewish figurines and also "kosher vodka" bottles, so visiting students will see it and we can discuss my research.
