Fay Bussgang

About me:

I and my Polish-born husband, Julian, have done extensive genealogical research, writing, and publication during 13 trips to Poland, and have also translated two volumes of wartime accounts of child survivors still living in Poland ("The Last Eyewitnesses: Children of the Holocaust Speak") and edited two Yizkor Books (memorial books) that were recently published by JewishGen (Brzeziny and Dzialoszyce).

I bought the figurines in Old Town Warsaw in the mid 1990s. I bought them because they evoked what I thought was the Poland of my grandparents. I did not see them as negative caricatures. They are very soulful, and I am very fond of them. They connect me to the Poland that was, the land of my ancestors. Along with the pictures of my grandparents (seen here in my home in Boston), they inspire me to research my family history.
